Al’s Deli – Review

as some of you might have seen in webisode 18, Matt, Cathy and myself wanted to check out Al’s Deli after seeing of their crazy creations online so…

We headed to the kingsland location thinking parking would be better but it wasn’t it was actually pretty shit but we got there in the end..

Easy to find and it was pretty quiet when we got there so plenty of places to sit and the outside was heated too so that could have been nice, staff were cool good for a laugh and super friendly so it was a real nice place to be and hang out..

So .. the Food, Of course I had to find a pretty standard burger to review, a lot of the creations are pretty out there so I went with an Al Burger, but! there were also many sides… many many sides.. but I’l get to that..

Al Burger
150g Angus burger
special sauce ( couldn’t figure it out but it was good)
Cheese
onion
pickles ( but not for me cause fuck pickles )
Tomato
Lettuce

cheapest option at $14

Well, simple it was.. it was pretty basic, not huge not tiny but had it not been for the sides I would have been left hungry… and disappointed.. like, it was ok but it wasn’t anything amazing. Certainly didn’t live up to the hype the pattie was good but the bun tasted like it was 2 days old and it just felt like there was no love in it.. at all the rest of the ingredients were good but again nothing amazing, bland would be too harsh but yeah just not that great..and it didn’t come with a side of fries but there was a silver lining

Those sides I mentioned earlier.. well we got a heap of those

Plateau bites were a boneless buttermlik fried chicken and fuck me it was the best thing in the world right then.. super tasty with a ranch sauce I will 100% go back just for those even at the $14 price but somtimes shits so good you don’t mind paying a bit extra.. that said.. mexico of where there are many has a pretty good boneless chicken for less but i think you get a little less..

Snickers Milkshake.. ok so a $10 milkshake better be poured by angels and delievered in a diamond chalice.. but to be fair I’ve had some clever shakes and this was up there, they nailed the flavour but it wasn’t huge.. not that it needed to be but yeah I’m glad I tried it but I wouldn’t spend that extra money again..

Matt got wings but didnt finish them but he said they were pretty good. Cathy had a new burger that had mac n cheese in it, which is what she had last time and I think she prefered the one from Rye but you’d have to ask.

Overall I thought it was a little on the expensive side but with some redeeming features, there is a lot more on the menu but to be honest I’m kinda over some of these places that put out real over the top creations on social media to get attention and people tagging their fucking friends then you get there for an actual feed and its not that great..

I won’t go out of my way to go back but if its what the masses are doing I know what I’d have

to give this place a rating I’d give it a 6.5 out of 10
