Another awesome burger review!
This time, James Street Burgers Papamoa..
First things first, why here? well, the cute blonde girl with the nice bum suggested it so naturally I agreed, Then I checked their social media to scope them out and very quickly got excited.. Yes about the burgers ya filthy animals!
Parking was a piece of cake, located in the middle of the retail park of Papamoa there was plenty of parking around.. we walked in and got in line, it looked busy as and we later found out they were a man down.. which possibly attriubted to our 20 odd minute wait for food, which isn’t the norm I’m assured but what was a bit annoying was there isn’t much seating there and lots of the takeaway customers take up the dine in seating which might put off someone who thought they would dine in but there is no where to sit.. we noticed half the people that were sitting when we got there actually had ordered takeaway and we were crammed up at the end of the table
So, The burgers… I had
Beef and Bacon
Grilled beef patty
Streaky bacon
Cheese
Salad/slaw
Bbq sauce

Sounds expensive for something so simple right? well .. for the size of it I was expecting it to be a bigger bun, but they go up not out, this thing was stacked and this was one of their more tame burgers but for these reviews I try and get something similar each time for a new place as to keep some level of normality to judge off.. So yeah being a stack its quite hard to try tackle with your hands so being in polite company I attacked with provided hardware..
I have to say, this is one of the best flavour combinations I’ve had in a burger for a very long time. It’s quite cool that sitting at the bar you get to watch everything get done, they leave the beef patties on the grill for quite a long time giving them an amazing charred coating but the beef inside not far past pink.. fucking spot on ! they melt the cheese over the patty and layer the fried bacon ontop to let the juice seep down.. and as you know I’m a big fan of the juice seeping down 😉
Sometimes when something is so simple it needs to be perfect or close to to give any kind of wow factor, and fuck me this was perfect.. we also ordered a side of fries to share. $5 gets you a basket of coated chips which were super tasty alas we could have done just fine with the smaller order as there was more than enough for 2 people
The place itself was awesome too, rocking classic hits on the radio we passed much of the time singing quietly in the corner and the staff were all super nice and chilled, there was no ego here just good people making good food and I fully respect that
Overall, cause we have to do this
I’d give the burger I got a solid and rare 9/10 for the price i would haved liked to got a bit more out of the size of the burger as for the place it self a strong 8.. wait time was shit but made up for with good tunes and good people, I will definately be back to try their mother clucker burger soon!
