USAye Burger – Review

Hey team, another limited special from our friends at Burgerfuel

This one is actually a welcome revival of a burger that came out ages ago and I for one am glad!

We were actually very kindly invited along to the Burgerfuel 4th of July party to try this new old burger, unfortunately I spent more time trying to start old cars than anything else and missed one at the party, but that’s ok cause that means i can go all secret shopper into a store without them knowing its getting a review, hence I get what any other punter will get. thus making a fair review. Smart right?

So, whats in it?

Grass fed beef patty ( Aus)
hashbrowns
American Mustard
Bacon
Cheddar Cheese
salads
relish / aioli

$14.90 I got it with Smashbrowns cause they are on too and they are fucking tops. And an L&P

Right so, one thing that is rare in a burger yet can have a huge effect is a hashbrown, if the brown is well crispy on the outside yet moist on the inside it can add a great subtle flavour but more importantly it can get a great texture against the oils in the meat and the bacon. In this case it was well nailed, looking at it in the picture it looks like there is a lot of hashbrown, I guess there kind of is but as far as a ratio goes for an interesting texture vs how much of it you taste against other things it was spot on.

The Murican mustard is not to be overlooked too, its again one of those subtle things that wont overpower the over all bite yet if it wasn’t there something might be missing, its a fairly mild mustard for me so i found it sat well in the pallet

But you’re right, its not cheap.. $15 for a burger isn’t nothing, this is not unusual for burgerfuel but it is certainly at the upper end of the market and for that kinda money you’d want it to be one of the best burgers ever made, and for me it is.

Aside form the venison blue cheese burger from last year or perhaps the year before this is my 2nd favourite burger BF have ever made so when I heard it was making a comeback my diet plan went right out the fucking window.. I’ve had 3 in the 3 weeks they have been out and each was as good as the last

it wont be around for long so if it sounds like a bit of you get at it

This burger gets a solid 9/10 from me and I will defo have more before they are gone. here’s a hint for a revival tho, not the harajuku chiken 😉

Until next time burger lovers! – also feel free to drop suggestions of places to try in the comments cause I’m living back in Auckland now so I know there is a solid list to get through!

In the vlog below we hit up burgerfuel mission bay and show our french friend how to use a Doofer
