Townshend’s is one of those awesome breweries that only makes great beer. They don’t have a have huge range, and they don’t do much that is experimental, but what they do make is just fantastic.
Fat Hand is a proper Strong Ale, at 7.8% it’s got some bite to it.
It poors a lovely golden colour, very rich and clean. Don’t serve it straight from the fridge, it’s needs to be at 6-8deg C for the best flavour. Those flavours are lovely, sour over sticky malt with gentle hints of tart fruit. The nose is slightly floral, then gentle spice leads and there are some nice bitter tones that continue to a very clean aftertaste at the end.
It’s loaded with flavour, but still very approachable to drink.
