Alright team its time for another new product review,
Seems like so many of these things are coming through thick and fast and we’ve tested them all so lets sit down and strap in
Primo with Tip Top have released ” Mint Chocolate Chip” and “Hokey Pokey” flavours based off the Tip Top Ice-cream flavours. Now as we know, these are things that hit us right in the childhood, with fond memories and associated feelings to said flavours from years gone by. Now having that much nostalgia associated to an experience, especially when its a taste or smell it can transport you back in time in an instant; thus giving a huge responsibility to not stuff it up.
So, how do they stack up?
Really bloody well actually, These were sent to me by primo to get my views out upon release, which if you’re reading this are probably on shelves in ya local by now so they are out. I shared these with my Mum she was stoked with the flavours and said ” Top Marks”
Now I’m not that easily please, we have to science the shit outa this.
So lets break it down,
Mint Chocolate chip, my go to ice cream. The chocolate is very apparent much like the standard chocolate milk primo make that we’ve known for years, the twist of course is the mint, It smells minty, it has a minty after taste but not as much as you drink it, which i guess is acceptable, there is enough mint and at that, good mint. To satisfy the senses that you’re drinking Mint Chocolate Chip. So yep nailed it. There was a worry this was going to be overly sweet which isn’t my cup of tea at all, but nah its sweet but not sickly so that’s awesome
Now Hokey Pokey. This is a New Zealand icon that is not to be trifled with lightly. But yeah, they nailed it, a creamy base with those honey tones, of course its not go chunks of hokey pokey and I didnt expect it to but to get that balance is where its at and yep good as.
Personally I thought my favourite was gona be the Mint Choco being an Ice cream I like very much, but if i was going to choose at the shelf I’d likely grab a hokey pokey. well, probably both but yeah if I had to choose. and it would 100% be this before something like Lewis Road or Puhoi choco milks.
I really hope these take off because there a couple more flavours I’d like to see come through, such as Goody Gum Drops and Orange choco chip
Let us know what you think in the comments when you get ya hands on some!
