Peter Brock (not that one, the other one) at the grand young age of 22 was credited with designing the Cobra Daytona as way for Shelby to compete with Ferrari in Europe. The project nearly didn’t happen, except that Kiwi coach builder John Olsen was working for Shelby and was free to help build the car. Built at a time when engineers, mechanics and drivers all got involved directly on the shop floor, the Daytona was an extremely successful race car that proved Americans knew what they were doing.
Peter Brock tells the wonderful story of how he got involved in the project, and how the car came to be so great.
