The Mill BLACKBIRD – For CGI Cars

About 10 years ago car advertising started to change, photographs stopped being of cars, and started to be backgrounds with CGI models laid over the top.
This is now the standard way of doing car photography for advertising. The vast majority of still images you see of cars in car advertising, are not real. They are computer models dropped into the scene. There are now specialist photographers, using high res cameras and special rigs to produce environment maps, who do nothing but photograph roads and landscapes, to be used as plates for digitally generated cars to be dropped into.

The technology has existed for a few years to do this seamlessly for motion video, but it has been hard to do it repeatedly and affordably as you still need a vehicle in the scene to motion track.

Now that has changed, the Mill Blackbird solves the problems, with an adjustable chassis and suspension system along with built in light and scene mapping tools.
