Homegrown 2017 is just around the corner and once again it has sold out!!
Featuring an enormous lineup of NZ’s best music it is sure to be a killer day.
This is my 4th time going and I am as hyped as ever.
This is what my day is probably gonna look like….
First off we have Decades opening up their first ever Homegrown. I have been following these guys a while and seen them live and they absolutely crush it. Can’t wait to see what they do on the big Homegrown stage!
Following Decades is City Of Souls, again on the Rock Stage. City Of Souls played Homegrown last year and are following it up with a repeat offense, just after touring with Devilskin and performing at Rock The Park these guys are running like a well oiled machine!
I’ll be sticking around at the Rock Stage for one more band before moving around a bit, and that band is Like A Storm. They have been destroying it overseas and this is their first full rock show back home in quite some time. I am beyond hyped to finally see these guys live. They are also opening up for Alter Bridge later in the month so if you don’t catch them here, get along to see them at the Powerstation in Auckland!
Then i’ll be shifting over to The Lab Stage to catch the dynamic duo that are Skinny Hobos. I have a real soft spot for these guys, awesome dudes that play some groovy as hell rock. They have just come back from playing a few Aussie shows so will be keen to rock out with a home crowd again.
After that short departure it’s back to the Rock Stage for the return of the great Elemeno P!! I am ready for the nostalgia hit with these guys and hope they perform up to the standard of their previous selves!! I think I have seen them once a long time ago at X Air, once again on the Wellington Waterfront. Definitely gonna be a trip hearing these songs again!
Now the big guns start hitting the stage, I Am Giant are fresh from recording their next album and have just released the first single from it Dead Flower. They will be chomping at the bit to perform again and as always I am super excited to see and hear them. This will be my second time seeing them perform with Aja on guitar and vocals and he killed it last time.
Now for one of the biggest bands in NZ Rock and Metal and that is Blacklistt, I think the last time they played live was last years Homegrown… so they are not the most active band but they always put on an incredible show. Always stoked to catch these guys.
Rounding out the event for me will be Shihad. NZ Rock Gods in my opinion and a very fitting headliner for Homegrowns Rock Stage. They have been in this position many many times in the past and always round out the festival playing to a full house on the Rock Stage and I expect nothing less this year!
So that’s what my days looking like, maybe a few changes here and there but it’l most likely stick to that!
Were you lucky enough to suss a ticket? Who are you gonna be seeing?
