We’ve tried to keep this list on a ‘ anyone can do’ basis, of course there are many amazing waterfalls some eaiser to get to than others. These are all accessable with mild fitness and a keen attitude!
#5 Mclaren Falls – Bay of Plenty
10 mins outside of Tauranga heading towards the Kaimai Ranges well sign posted but you might find parking hard when its busy, really easy to see the falls from the road. lots of great cliff jumps and calm waters for littlies
#4 Karekare Falls – Waitakere
A popular spot for Instagrammers an easy walk through the Waitakere Ranges, great swimming hole and a track to the top this is a must do if you’re in Auckland with no way out to some of these other falls
#3 Omeru Falls – Kaukapakapa
Just past Jordan road in Kaukapakapa, these falls are a nice little bushwalk only 15 mins or so, sheltered from sun can be chilly even on the warmest days. footholes have been carved into the rock face for jumping into the deep pool and a track can take you to the top of the falls for some great photos
#2 Hanua Falls
Probably the most family friendly, great facilities like toilets and picnic tables and plenty of car parking. In the Hanua ranges in Southern Auckland this can do it all from great walks to park up and have a picnic
#1 Omanawa Falls
Technically closed, and certainly the most challenging on the list but also the most rewarding, not for the faint of heart yet some breath taking views and amazing photo opportunities, just don’t get caught!
Have a wonderful summer everyone and stay safe!
