Fokker Bros – Review

Ok first off.

Let me just say there is a massive menu and this might take a 2nd visit to get through it all. But.

Why here? I was tagged in a post on instagram and I couldn’t say no. Fokker Bro’s is located in Aucklands Viaduct Harbour so there is plenty of street parking and parking buildings around. We were a bit early for the dinner rush but it did start to pack out by the time we were leaving. the venue is very cool, the staff are super fun and friendly, the main attraction for us for this visit was the place is Dog friendly. They even had a dog specific menu.

One down side of the venue is the tables are rather large and you sit quite far apart, for us talking shop this was a bit of an issue but I think if you were on a date it might be worse if you’re trying to keep conversation quiet or private from the people at the next table.

Right lets get into the review.

I ordered: The Fokker Cheese

Fresh-ground Beef
Lettuce
Tomato
Aged Cheddar
Pickeled red onion
and ” special Sauce”

As a combo with Fries and a bottle of coke this was $28, $18 for just the burger

Now, this is one of the most expensive burgers I’ve had in this country. I hadn’t actually looked at the price until I grabbed pics of the menu for the sake of this article. I think if i knew before hand this was going to be a very expensive burger I might have thought differently going in, but I’m glad I wasn’t tainted before. The first thing i noticed was the bun, very soft. Not toasted hardcore like other places almost more like a soft roll or something, that was a welcome point of difference. The patty was great well charred with a good bark and acceptable colourings. salads were of a high standard and over all I enjoyed the burger. Now, had I known this was the most expensive burger I’d tested to date, I might have been more critical but I was happy with what I had so let it slide. This time.

My friend had The Rueben Sandwich which was basically a big fuck off pastrami sammich with mustard and it looked great and the response I got upon inquiry was 8/10. this was a $21 sandwich.. No that’s not a typo

We also ordred some curly fries and deep fried Mac n Cheese Balls, These balls were so very fucking cheesy I almost couldn’t handle it. Ya’l know how much I like pizza but this was next level, actually. It was the level after the next level

I strongly suggest you don’t try this place unless you’re crazy hungry and are up for some extreme flavours, on that note however if you’re feeling a bit flash and can afford their prices then its certainly something worth doing at least once if you’re in Auckland

Overall we had a great time and so did the dogs, staff we’re awesome and the food was great. once the bank balance is replenished we’l head back and try some other stuff, they also do those crazy unnessicary desserts in Jars with doughnuts on top which I passed on this time around.

Until next time!
