Eating take away Food, is there a healthier option?

Hey Guys,

I am writing this with no real format or idea how to put it together but decided to write this after talking about it with a couple of friends who look at take away food at two completely different angles, one is a competitive bodybuilder who lives on a pretty structured eating plan and has a couple of treat meals a week. For him his treat meals are all go….. whatever he feels like at the time and pretty much as much as he can eat in a meal and totally enjoy every single part of it he can.

The other is eats fast food often as its convenient and not overly expensive and obviously for taste too. So with both guys we talked about the same places but at total different perspectives, looking at pure enjoyment and then the opposite. Can you eat healthier options while getting fast food? not talking about salads etc as the healthier option but eating regular options just even as simple as not buying combo’s or meal deals.

So if we looked at a meal deal that has burger, fries, sundae and drink. On one side you have a lot of empty calories in that option and although is usually a large amount of food. You could instead have 2 burgers and a diet drink instead. Yeah I know its still junk food and not healthy but you have drastically reduced the amount of empty calories and apart from some sauce, the basics of meat, salad and bread is not that bad in comparison. I did look at the calories from both and you have a pretty big difference while still getting a fair amount of food.

Again if you go to a sandwich place for wrap or a sub. Rather than a foot long or big option with lots of cheese and then drowned in sauce. If you get a smaller size go for a double meat option no cheese or low fat cheese and a low fat or no sauce you again cut down the empty calories.

I have obviously not said specific places or anything that I want to come across bad about any company. I am just trying to put the point across that no matter where you are and what you are having there are usually always choices. You don’t have to change everything in life but every little choice makes a little difference from not eating huge amounts of fries with little nutritional benefit or drinking sugar filled drinks just full of empty calories. Personally I don’t care if someone thinks I am weird for buying two burgers and a diet drink, yes I know it doesn’t make it a diet meal having a diet drink lol. I do wish that they didn’t make it more expensive to buy a burger and a drink than getting a whole combo though but that’s a different story.

I hope this gives you a little reminder that life does not have to be extreme diet wise but just to always remember each little choice does make a little difference…..

Have a great week

Matt
