Hey Team,
Another burger review – Sort of, let me just preface this. When we do reviews, we do not take payment or gratuities for our opinions, this combo was sent to my house to try at no cost to me so, with that understood lets move forward.
A while back there was a meme doing the rounds ( I must have missed this one) around a Caramel Sundae with Bacon in it, now whilst I am always open to stoner food creations being something that can at times be amazing and made again cause it just hit good, this is a little different. For example last night we made the viral BigMac Taco’s that are doing the rounds on the tiktoks etc, that was a 10/10.
You may have seen our stories on the socials I posted where it was dropped off and I showed it to you, however in the content I did not share an opinion as it was a #gifted item,
But for the sake of letting you guys know what I think here we go! – There are many things in this world I enjoy, some can be enjoyed together and others probably shouldn’t. Harold and Kumar fans know what I’m talking about. So without reading the email properly and just excited to have Wendy’s for lunch without having to put pants on, this seemed like a good time. However I was not only unimpressed, I couldn’t do the Sundae.
Cheesenator: Two New Zealand fresh beef patties, layers of manuka-smoked bacon and cheese, all drenched in a creamy cheese-and-bacon sauce on a toasted kaiser bun.
I’m a big fan of Wendy’s in general, I feel like of the fast food drive-through places we have as options, it’s one of the cleaner ones with fresher-feeling ingredients and real meat tasting meat. This “extreme” example of cheese on cheese on cheese for me personally was a bit over the top, it became overwhelming and unenjoyable. Which was a shame cause I was really hungry at that point. I smashed through about half of it and had to put it down, it wasn’t something that I would go out and pay for, but I am aware that there are people in the world that would love this – I’m just not one of them. I’m sure if Hannah from our team got her hands on this she’d be all about it – cheese levels are often a conversation (disagreement) around things like Lasagne or other similar dishes that you can play with cheese ratios. Other than the cheese levels, its as solid as any other in the baconator range. Personally for me, I find that with Wendy’s I’ll go there if I want something clean(ish) instead of these over indulgent ones. But hey, if this rocks your boat, I’m not gonna yuck your yum. It’s just not for me.
As for the meme being brought to life – Full support of doing it, it’s something that we also do for ourselves, so giving the people the ability to try it for themselves is something pretty awesome. But far out man, some stuff should just stay a joke.
Baconator Frosty: Wendy’s classic vanilla Frosty turned on its head – swirled with caramel drizzle, sprinkled with candied bacon chips, topped with maple flavoured syrup and 
crowned with crispy bacon bits.
I didn’t read the flyer that came with this first but I got the jist of what it was going to be and tried to go in with an open mind, I grabbed the spoon and had a good go at it, instant regret, the textures do not add up for me and the contrasting flavour of Bacon and Icecream didn’t work. Now I’ve been open to new things, for the first time ever recently my friend Em’s decided whilst at a fancy pants movie premier to bite the top off her ice cream and smash it into our popcorn until there was no ice cream left. Without hesitation I followed suit and it was a life changer and now part of the movie experience. This however, I will not be rushing out to get.
Thankfully for me, it didn’t go to waste as my flatmate was home, so I offered the experience to him as well, and after he let it melt some more he said that he did in fact enjoy it. I should preface that with my flatmate’s elevator does not to to the topfloor and is known to be someone to offer to do this with food that other members of the house hold would consider past its use by date and has a self proclaimed Iron Stomach.
I found this picture of a “high end” version of this idea, I might even challenge myself and have a go at something like this for you guys to see if it makes a difference but I don’t know if I will. Now that I’ve posted this idea, I’m sure the brains of the operation is going to be urging more episodes of MeanEats so stay tuned for that on our socials!
Now while this wasn’t for me, it might be for you, I can’t rightly recommend anyone try this as a blanket statement however I can say, if you’re one of those people that like the over the top stuff, have at it. If I’ve learnt anything in life its worth trying things that might bring you joy. so, ya know…
