The Ribiron Rebel by Burgerfuel – Review

Hey Team!

Fuck me dead its been too long since I got to go try a new buger but we are back at it! even during lock down!

So the usual format doesn’t apply here, long story short the girl needed feeding and I didn’t fancy cooking so off to burgerfuel we went. I didn’t even know there was a special burger on so it was a happy surprise and even happier that this special sounded right up my alley!

Lockdown process isn’t too much of a mission, it was popular tho – Online order and pay online before you get there and pick it up when its ready so you dont have to use cash during lockdown – easy peasy.

So the Burger

The Ribiron Rebel
NZ Beef
Slow cooked sticky short rib with Holy Smoke Sauce
Melted cheddar
Fresh Rocket

$16.90 or $22.40 as a combo with Spud Fries and a Drink.

Reality vs Tinder comparison

First thing Jess said as I pulled it out was ” Is that it? .. I thought it would be Bigger?” which I cannot stress how much that cuts me every time I hear it..

It’s a full size bun but not super stacked high cause its basically a standard cheese burger with the pulled rib and extra sauces. Flavours were on point tho, the smokey sauce along with the rib make for a BBQ flavour in a cheese burger at the expected Burgerfuel standard and quality so if you’re as big a fan of BF as I am, you know that you’re in for a good time.

This is a pretty simple idea for Burgerfuel for a special burger, but I must say its one of their better ones of late. Nothing comes close to the Venison and Blue cheese from a few years ago but this was pretty damn good. I think this one when assembled got a little extra helping of sauce which wasn’t overpowering the flavour but it was a bit on the heavy sauce side in terms of how much was actually in there to the point of almost being soggy. It wasn’t soggy but any more and it could have been a mess.

Mouth feel ratio was good, the patty was well charred giving a few different textures, the rib was amazingly tender and the cheese held it all together. Those big toasty buns frame it all nicely.

So yeah overall tasty burger, could have done with a bit more but it was an ok size feed.

Until next time or level 2!
